Thank you for taking the time to register as an ISLP volunteer.

ISLP enlists the resources of highly skilled and experienced attorneys, many with international legal expertise and a demonstrated commitment to public service, in the struggle against repression, discrimination, corruption and poverty. To this end, ISLP has established a framework through which experienced attorneys in active practice and in retirement can donate their time, knowledge and skills to international and foreign organizations, governmental agencies, local legal assistance providers and institutions of legal education.

ISLP volunteers assist legal reform efforts that advance democracy and the rule of law in places where corruption and arbitrary power have ruled; increase the capacity of local and international organizations that protect human rights; work with citizens to develop legal regimes that are fair, predictable and in compliance with international standards; train and mentor local lawyers to meet the challenges of their changing societies; and promote the development of a public interest culture in countries where legal services are urgently needed to serve disadvantaged populations.
